Location: Port Chester, NY

Position Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

THE POSITION: IT Project Manager

The IT Project Manager position will report directly to the CTO and will be responsible for furthering established project management processes and for the successful delivery of projects related to the website, showroom and corporate applications for The Shade Store.

The role requires technical knowledge, solid project management background, and excellent communication skills for collaboration across IT and brand business units to ensure successful delivery of our solutions. This role also requires strategic thinking and planning to provide leadership and expertise throughout the development lifecycle. The IT Project Manager will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of the various projects undertaken by the web development team. This individual must also have a proven track record of success leading and delivering on multiple projects as part of a nimble and agile organization, with a strong sense of ownership.


  • Work closely with the IT Product Management, the Development and QA teams across all phases of projects
  • Driving cross-functional team deliverables to successful completion
  • Facilitating program/project planning, meetings, prioritization, and communication
  • Coordinating multiple initiatives, aligning schedules, tasks, resources to roadmaps
  • Providing big picture perspective as well as attention to the finer details
  • Identifying and tracking interdependencies, risks, issues
  • Vigilantly monitoring progress
  • Actively looking for ways to improve team productivity
  • Identify process gaps, champion and lead initiatives to strengthen overall project delivery
  • Interfacing with product owners and key stakeholders to ensure they are actively engaged throughout the solution development lifecycle
  • Building consensus among diverse and competing perspectives
  • Providing timely communication on program/project objectives, milestones, status, and metrics
  • Motivating and focusing teams to achieving corporate level outcomes
  • Provide weekly project dashboard reports to the leadership team, IT Product Management and the Development teams
  • Accountable for the technology team’s successful delivery of technical solutions
  • Establish the plan and help implement the migration to an agile project management process
  • Follow industry best practices
  • Perform other duties as they arise
  • Create an environment fostering personal and professional growth


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in software project management
  • Proven track record of successful program/project execution
  • Prior expertise with JIRA. Has established a metrics and data driven measurement structure using JIRA to gauge team efficacy and performance
  • Good technical background for a portion of your career
  • Proficient in program/project management tools (i.e. Gantt charts, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.). Huge plus for expertise in relevant agile project management tools
  • Working knowledge of systems integration technologies/components (i.e. APIs, data formats, db schema, security, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of web development technologies (i.e. HTML, CSS, SQL, Javascript, frameworks, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to break down large complex technical problems into constituent tasks and plans
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and communicate technical concepts and details
  • Exhibit strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across functional groups and organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development methodologies - Agile/Scrum, Kanban etc
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate and share solutions with fellow team members
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to communicate clearly and effectively whether with engineers or executives
  • Demonstrated leadership capability
  • Relevant experience in the Retail industry
  • Self-motivated and willing to "do what it takes" to get the job done
  • A huge plus: Served as a scrum master; successfully transitioned a team from waterfall/‘agile-fall’ to agile/scrum
  • Plus: Experience at companies of different stages from startup to mid-sized corporation


  • Experience with automated testing using Selenium or Codeception
